As generations settle in the United States, one of the most important things is to remember who we are and what the significance of our Hindu festivals are.  This page serves as a purpose for educating our community on the different Hindu festivals.  Come back to this page as a festival approaches.  You will find a link to a document that talks about the festival.

Diwali

Diwali symbolizes the victory of good over evil, and lamps are lit as a

sign of celebration and hope for mankind. The reason for celebrating

Diwali is the return of Lord Ram, after killing Ravan (Demon) during his

exile for 14 years. The day of killing Ravan is celebrated as Dushehra

(19~21 days before Diwali).
